FTZ Consulting - Personnel

Karen Sager, the principal of FTZ Consulting, LLC, has 18 years experience in the field of FTZs, import and export compliance. Ms. Sager was the Customs Administrator for the Smith Corona Corporation for ten years. In that capacity, she was responsible for all aspects of Customs compliance and recordkeeping, including FTZ administration of Smith Corona’s manufacturing and distribution facility. Prior to becoming the Customs Administrator, Ms. Sager was a systems analyst/programmer for Smith Corona responsible for developing and maintaining all IT systems that supported the inventory, manufacturing and finance functions. From 1996 until November, 2002, Ms. Sager was a senior consultant with the Foreign-Trade Zone Corporation assisting a wide range of companies in the activation and operation of foreign-trade zones.

Ms. Sager has been a member of the NAFTZ since 1986, becoming a member of the Board of Directors in 1990. She was the President of the Association from 1997-1999. As a member of the NAFTZ, Ms. Sager has been an active participant in the development and presentation of the Customs FTZ Training program, has participated in the collaborative effort with U.S. Customs to update the Customs FTZ Manual and now serves on the Regulatory Committee.
